I've had many netbooks over the past year and this has the largest screen. It is thin and the battery life is great. However, it is slooowwweer than the other netbooks. With all the pixels it packs and a slower processer than the N270, things kinda drag. But for $299 (half the price of the original iphone 8 gig!!), you can't beat it! I tried Windows 7RC and it was SLOW so put back on XP (from the back up discs I made- they don't come with them so make sure you do that FIRST THING) and then it was much faster. This is one sweet little machine.

I bought it for it's size and functionality. When it came in I had to clean up the garbage that Acer puts on it, including removing McAfee.

Once I got that done, I tuned up the registry a bit, hooked up to the web, optimized its connection parameters, and it works great.

I put Microsoft Office on it along with some other apps, and it does everything I want it to do.

It's not the fastest computer in the world, but for $300 I didn't expect it would be. However, it runs well. I didn't find it to be sluggish at all. Some of the things I removed were real resource hogs so that may explain why it runs well for me.

I didn't try running movies on it so I don't know how well it will do. I could optimize it for movies, but I prefer the way I have it setup for the web and Office apps.

first of all, i didn't purchase this computer on-line. I'm just going to review the product itself. This netbook is not a replacement for a laptop. It only has 1G so it's perfect for writing papers, doing research and surfing the web. It's small and slim and allows me to take it anywhere. I can access the internet easily anywhere that has wifi. So far, no problems. When purchased at a store instead of on-line you get an in store warr along with the manufacture warr. so i do recommend going to a store and purchasing it.

Well, I thought I love this Netbook, but it freezes at least once per day or the screen goes black. Nothing to do but force a shut down and re-boot. Forums say the black screen could be caused by either a fault RAM module (mine came with 1x 2gb stick), or video problems. Either way, I'm changing the OS to Windows 7 RC instead of the horrible Vista Home that comes pre-installed. I purchased the acer because it had the largest screen and was priced below most of the others. I am glad that windows xp was installed and not vista since this computer has problems with simple tasks like browsing the Internet Xp consumes less of the netbooks resources compared to vista. I believe the problem with Internet speed and the computer freezing up which I experince about once a day lays in the Intel Atoms design the atom is a single core compared to the dual core intel i have in my notebook which enables a computer to function with less problems. I will be upgrading to a two gb 800mhz stick of ram to see if this helps. All in all I am pleased with the computers design it just gets annoying when you are trying to do things and the netbook freezes up.
Sept 27th 09 I just wanted to update that I returned this netbook and made the decision to stay away from netbooks altogether. Like I wrote it was just freezing to much, if you need it for microsoft office its not bad, but what frustrated me the most was the constant freezing. Im typing my Review on my new Acer AO751h. The 11.6" High Def Screen is FANTASTIC. Big, Bright, PERFECT. Keyboard is FAST and quiet. Construction feels very solid, no creaks or bending. My desktop is a 2.16 Ghz
Core Duo with an ASUS SLI Motherboard, and frankly Im amazed how well this little single core holds its own in comparison. The fact is, if you are doing heavy PROCESSING jobs like Gaming or Video editing, heck yeah a 1.22 Ghz wont cut it. If you are low on cash and want a full fledged all purpose LAPTOP computer, this aint it. You will be Hatin' it! But for Web Surfing, Music, YouTube, e-mail etc, I find it to be WAY FAST ENOUGH. And compared to OTHER NETBOOKS, and I've BEEN shopping them all, this IS the one with all the goodies for the price. Personally, XP, 2gig Ram (I replaced the 1 gig with a 2 gig stick from Amazon for like, $28 ) the Great Keyboard, and the Fab 16 x 9 High Def Screen puts this one ahead of all the others. Cheap Toshiba Mini NB205-N210 10.1-Inch Black Netbook Buy Today

I decided to purchase this particular netbook a few weeks ago
after doing much online research and wanted to give it a good run before
commenting. I was all set to go with the Asus 1005HA based on CNET's reviews and
then I saw a friend with this attractive netbook and went straight to Best Buy
to put hands on and check out similar side by side.

The Toshiba, hands
down, had a better built feel and the keyboard is awesome with the exception of
occasionally resting on the tiny tab key while typing, but getting used to
that...undo is a quick fix while adapting. A number of reviewers have already
commented about the tab key. Absolutely love the responsive keyboard and the
reflective silver keys in low light which is really handy compared to black
keys...think about it if you like to type in low light like while watching TV. I
can't say enough about the pluses of the keyboard.

Pros:
*Keyboard is
very responsive and the silver keys reflect in low light for easy
typing
*Battery charge is great - 6.5 hours today with 65% charge
remaining
*Smudge free case vs. other models with glossy finishes
*Feels
pretty solid for a small computer and I have no objection to the battery pack on
the back like some have mentioned - seems common for the 6-cell battery
builds

Cons:
*Like many have already mentioned...the touchpad can be a
bit quirky at times. Since I don't use a mouse unless forced to, this was a
major concern. Adapting quickly to the touchpad and updated the driver to
Win7...still out on whether it's made any difference but haven't noticed
anything ill effects on XP.
*Speakers are weak sounding like many have
mentioned, but I wasn't expecting much anyway...updating the Realtek driver made
a slight difference. Hey, plug in your earbuds!

My overall conclusion is
that I'm very happy with this netbook because it is very portable and does
exactly what it's intended for. If I have only one concern it would be the cost
and quality of future batteries which seems to be the curse of these devices.

This is a great little net book and well worth the money. I
purchased this netbook to use while traveling and it fits all of my
expectations. I'm very impressed with the size and weight but must admit that I
was expecting it to be a little less than what they are (just slightly though).
The batter is wonderful! I have gotten 6-7 hours out of one charge and it still
wasn't empty. I was a little concerned that the smaller screen size would be an
issue (as with any net book) but thankfully I didn't even notice it. There are a
few warnings (rather than cons) that I can think of: 1. As I've seen in other
reviews, the touchpad is a little small but it's easliy dealt with one you get
used to it. 2. The touchpad is sometimes unresponsive or does the wrong action.
I've had a few times where my intent was to move the pointer position and the
scroll feature activated instead. 3. The speakers are a little under powered. 4.
The glossy blue finish on the case is easily smudged. Other than that, I would
