I bought this because writing a paper on the teeny tiny acer one is hard, as you're lucky to see one paragraph at a time. However, that's pretty much the extent of my using it I've noticed - I tend to use my tiny acer ALL THE TIME and this bigger one (which is still small by most standards) far less. Also, I initially ordered red, but ended up getting a white one upon returning it because the battery connections were broken. The red isn't true to color for what you see online, so think twice and go for a black, white or blue I'd say.

I've had many netbooks over the past year and this has the largest screen. It is thin and the battery life is great. However, it is slooowwweer than the other netbooks. With all the pixels it packs and a slower processer than the N270, things kinda drag. But for $299 (half the price of the original iphone 8 gig!!), you can't beat it! I tried Windows 7RC and it was SLOW so put back on XP (from the back up discs I made- they don't come with them so make sure you do that FIRST THING) and then it was much faster. This is one sweet little machine.

I bought it for it's size and functionality. When it came in I had to clean up the garbage that Acer puts on it, including removing McAfee.

Once I got that done, I tuned up the registry a bit, hooked up to the web, optimized its connection parameters, and it works great.

I put Microsoft Office on it along with some other apps, and it does everything I want it to do.

It's not the fastest computer in the world, but for $300 I didn't expect it would be. However, it runs well. I didn't find it to be sluggish at all. Some of the things I removed were real resource hogs so that may explain why it runs well for me.

I didn't try running movies on it so I don't know how well it will do. I could optimize it for movies, but I prefer the way I have it setup for the web and Office apps.

Just got this and I'm really happy with the screen and overall look. . . .BUT a couple downers:

1) Mouse click pad is hard to press - it's not comfortable to use with out a middle finger cramp.
2) Freezes - I have only had this laptop for a week now and from time-to-time the laptop freezes. I have only installed open [...] and iTunes, and other than that only use the laptop for surfing.

A little disappointed.

We have had the Aspire for a month now and my wife and I really love it. We each have our own notebooks that serve as our primary computers. The Acer was purchased for my wife to take on the road and when we travel for vacation or family visits. This is a great little machine and makes checking e-mail and internet searches so much easier. I have a large family and would have to abandon them to go to my basement office to check e-mails and would miss out on notes from friends and important info. With the netbook I can be in the kitchen with my kids and still keep up with everything that's going on that needs my attention. And it's so small that I can put it away easily. I can sit with my husband in the evening instead being chained to my desktop. He's even started using it as well. The only thing I've had to get used to is that it's somewhat slower than I'm used to with my Mac and my Dell desktops. But it's not so slow that I regret the purchase.
