After 6 weeks of intermittent use, it stopped charging or even operating plugged in. For a while, it worked as a plug in but failed when screen was rotated to use as a tablet. While it worked it was great- PC by day; Kindle at night. I called the 800 # on the back of the computer and was told I would receive a RMA # but so far 'nada'. To send it back for warranty repair, I have to reinstall the 1 gig of RAM it came with (I ordered a 2 gig Crucial expansion when I purchased it on Amazon). I also will lose all my software, according to Asus. I really hope that the replacement unit works but I am nervous that the fatal flaw may be the rotating screen connections. Also, I never could get the digitizer/calibrator to work. Pen was always 1/4" off the mark..exasperating to say the least.

I loved it while it was alive and sincerely hope that a reliable machine is in the works. I don't see the white ones anywhere now and here I am with a white external disk drive, white 500gig external hard drive, white speakers and white Blutooth headphones. First, the positive: it's a nice little netbook, display is clear and bright, keyboard has a good feel, battery life is excellent.
Second, the neutral: All netbooks are very similar. They almost all have the identical Intel Atom CPU, RAM & HD are all sourced from outside vendors, and all the makers follow more or less the same formula. So there isn't much in the way of technology separating one brand from another.
Last, the negative. After 3 months the power supply "brick" began to fail. At first it would cut out after being plugged in continuously,reset itself after being unplugged for a half hour, and run for several hours before shutting down again. Then it would cut out before the battery had a chance to fully recharge. Now, 5 months old, it is completely dead. I called the ASUS Eee support number on the bottom, and after dialing twice and listening to a phone ring for 15 minutes I was told that ASUS does NOT cross-ship replacements, that I had to find my own box, ship it back to them at my expense, and wait for a replacement! To add to the experience, the support line's phone system is so bad that entire sentences get cut off, forcing me to keep saying "What? Please repeat that..". Mattel walkie-talkies have better connections.
As an IT professional, I have dealt with customer support from just about every computer brand out there, and ASUS has to be by far the WORST. Since all netbooks are pretty much the same, and there isn't much separating them by price, post-sale support is a significant factor. I will never buy another ASUS product and cannot advise anyone else to either.
