I bought this lap-top for my most recent deployment to Afghanistan as a junk computer that I didn't care if it got destroyed. It lasted the whole 7 months, and still works great. When i first got it it did run a little slow, but I disabled every unneccesary little option that windows loves, and it ran noticeable faster immediately. I've had it about a year now, and still use it now that i'm back. Great for traveling, battery lasts when you know you won't be near power for a while. I velcroed a 500GB external to the case for movies, and it helped with the small HD. I really like this netbook. Its light and has the full resolution screen. I do find that I use a wireless mouse when I am doing Windows work. Its big enough to do real work on. The wifi works great and will latch on in most places. Make sure that you know about the slide switch on the lower left of the keyboard which turn on and off wifi. I find the screen nice, but would like a little more contrast at times. I have trouble seeing the vertical sliders of some windows apps. The battery really is 8 hours, and I don't take my charger with me on weekends--but I don't do videos.

I think its a home run. I will probably go for an iPad in a couple of months. I think its a step up, but of course at a significant uptick in price. I did opt for a Runcore SSD, which has made it a bit faster.

I did extensive research before choosing a netbook for purchase. This one had the best reviews by far. It's lightweight and super portable. For the price, it has everything you could want and I am extremely impressed with the life of the battery. It actually lasts as long as it says it will, which is something that I haven't ever experienced with laptops. They usually die after a few hours, despite what the packaging says. This one lasts the full 7.5 hours, even after running multiple applications the entire time.
